The Bills and Patriots both came into last weekend’s game undefeated at 3-0. Buffalo put up a fight, but it was the defending Super Bowl Champions that avoided a scare with a 16-10 victory. Bills quarterback Josh Allen had three interceptions in his first three games and threw three more against the Patriots defense. Allen left the game in the fourth quarter after a helmet to helmet collision with Johnathan Jones and was replaced by Matt Barkley. His status for the game against the Titans is still unknown, as he remains in concussion protocol. Frank Gore notched 109 yards rushing for the fourth-ranked rushing offense (147.2 YPG) in the league. Buffalo also had four receivers with over 40 yards, led by Cole Beasley (75 yards).

Fewer turnovers and the outcome could have been different for the Bills. While the offense sputtered, the defense was on point. Buffalo ranks second in team defense (280 YPG) and fourth in pass defense (280.8 YPG). The unit held Tom Brady to 150 yards passing and the Patriots run game to just 74 yards. Tremaine Edmunds notched 11 tackles and Micah Hyde had three tackles and one interception. The defense did not record any sacks and will need to apply pressure to a versatile Marcus Mariota.

The Tennessee Titans picked up a quality, 24-10, win on the road against the Falcons. Marcus Mariota threw for 227 yards and three touchdowns and Derrick Henry carried the ball 27 times for his first 100 yard game of the season. A.J. Brown and Corey Davis provided Mariota with a 1-2 punch at wide receiver. Brown had three catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns, while Davis added five catches for 91 yards and two touchdowns. The game ball though goes to the Titans offensive line. In the first three contests they allowed 17 sacks. Against Atlanta they allowed zero sacks and kept Mariota upright for the duration of the game.

Defensively, the team notched five sacks for the second time in 2019. Jurrell Casey had four tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Rashaan Evans added ten tackles and half a sack and Jaylon Brown recorded seven tackles and one sack. The Titans had three key stops on fourth down and held the Falcons to 58 yards rushing in the game.
